NIGHT-TIME LANE CLOSURES ON N2 MBOKODWENI RIVER BRIDGE
 
Pietermaritzburg, 2 May 2025 – The South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) wishes to inform road users of temporary night-time lane closures on the N2 between Joyner Road and Moss Kolnik Drive as part of the emergency repair work on the Mbokodweni River Bridge.
 
The lane closures will affect the N2 Northbound and Southbound carriageways alternately, and will be implemented according to the following schedule.
 
N2 Northbound:
Traffic will be diverted via the Moss Kolnik Drive offramp
·       Monday, 5 May 2025 from 22:00 to 05:00
·       Tuesday, 6 May 2025 from 22:00 to 05:00
·       Wednesday, 7 May 2025 from 22:00 to 05:00
 
N2 Southbound:
Traffic will be diverted via the Joyner Road offramp
·       Thursday, 8 May 2025 from 22:00 to 05:00
·       Friday, 9 May 2025 from 22:00 to 05:00
·       Saturday, 10 May 2025 from 22:00 to 05:00
 
“These essential repairs are being carried out to ensure the long-term safety and structural integrity of the Mbokodweni River Bridge. We are committed to completing the work with minimal disruption and therefore encourage motorists to plan their routes accordingly and allow for additional travel time.” said SANRAL’s Kwa-Zulu Natal Provincial Project Manager, Serisha Sukraj.
 
“We appeal to all road users to observe traffic signage, adhere to speed limits, and remain vigilant when approaching and driving through the construction zone. SANRAL apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for their cooperation as we work to preserve critical transport infrastructure” said Sukraj.
