i-TRAFFIC owned and operated by The South African National Roads Agency Ltd. (SANRAL), respects your privacy. The following describes our Privacy Policy in relation to the information you submit via i-traffic.co.za, and how it is used.

Information Gathered

Personal Information means individually identifiable information, such as a first and last name, a home or other physical address, phone number, an e-mail address or other contact information, whether at work or at home.

The personal information you voluntarily provide is used to fulfil a request. i-TRAFFIC may use this information to inform you of service information or other news of value to you. i-TRAFFIC or its contracted vendors do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to anyone, or disclose personal information except:

When the purpose and manner of the disclosure has been disclosed to you prior to your providing the information; or When disclosure is required by law.

i-TRAFFIC does:

  • Use voluntarily provided Personal Information for the benefit of the i-TRAFFIC programme and the user experience, as described in this Privacy Policy;
  • Forward e-mails that ask questions or provide comments on services provided by public agencies for their response;
  • Use standard web technologies to generate aggregate usage statistics in order to improve the user experience and system performance; and
  • Use third-party contractors to operate our i-TRAFFIC services, who will have access to Personal Information solely for the benefit of the programme and will be required to comply with privacy policies as provided in this Policy.

i-TRAFFIC Programmes

The i-TRAFFIC web system collects and uses Personal Information. The treatment of Personal Information entered in the web system is described in the section below.

i-traffic.co.za Web Services

i-TRAFFIC may request Personal Information when you submit comments about i-Traffic on i-traffic.co.za or when you participate in a website survey, poll or blog. You may also be asked to provide information when subscribing to an email newsletter or email alerts. You do not need to provide the Personal Information requested as part of these i-traffic.co.za web-based programmes or services, though you may not be able to use some or all of the features of certain programmes or services without providing the information.

Cross Linking

i-TRAFFIC provides links to other government traffic, public transport and travel related websites as a service to our users. Note that i-TRAFFIC does not endorse or take responsibility for information contained on those sites. When you link to another site, you are no longer on i-traffic.co.za and this Privacy Policy will not apply.

i-TRAFFIC Security

Personal Information collected online is stored on the i-traffic.co.za web server and is not publicly accessible. Personal Information is accessible by i-TRAFFIC employees, our authorised contractors on a need-to-know basis. Please note, however, that phone or e-mail enquiries about other public agencies will be forwarded directly to those agencies, where any Personal Information will be handled in compliance with that agency's privacy policy. By using i-traffic.ca.za, users agree that they will not use the site for any unlawful activity, or use it in any way that would violate these standards. Moreover, users of this website consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy regarding management of Personal Information for the purposes explained in this Policy. By using the i-traffic.ca.za website or phone system on or after this date, you consent to the terms of this Privacy Notice and to i-TRAFFIC’s collection, use, or dissemination of Personal Information as described in this Privacy Policy.

i-TRAFFIC reserves the right to change, modify, add or remove provisions of this Privacy Policy. Any changes will be posted here, and we encourage you to check back from time to time.

Feedback

i-TRAFFIC welcomes ideas and feedback about all aspects of the site. i-TRAFFIC stores feedback that users send to us. This feedback will be used to administer and refine the service and may be shared with public agencies either in aggregate form or with specific identifying characteristics removed.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY
 
NIGHT-TIME LANE CLOSURES ON N2 MBOKODWENI RIVER BRIDGE
 
Pietermaritzburg, 2 May 2025 – The South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) wishes to inform road users of temporary night-time lane closures on the N2 between Joyner Road and Moss Kolnik Drive as part of the emergency repair work on the Mbokodweni River Bridge.
 
The lane closures will affect the N2 Northbound and Southbound carriageways alternately, and will be implemented according to the following schedule.
 
N2 Northbound:
Traffic will be diverted via the Moss Kolnik Drive offramp
·       Monday, 5 May 2025 from 22:00 to 05:00
·       Tuesday, 6 May 2025 from 22:00 to 05:00
·       Wednesday, 7 May 2025 from 22:00 to 05:00
 
N2 Southbound:
Traffic will be diverted via the Joyner Road offramp
·       Thursday, 8 May 2025 from 22:00 to 05:00
·       Friday, 9 May 2025 from 22:00 to 05:00
·       Saturday, 10 May 2025 from 22:00 to 05:00
 
“These essential repairs are being carried out to ensure the long-term safety and structural integrity of the Mbokodweni River Bridge. We are committed to completing the work with minimal disruption and therefore encourage motorists to plan their routes accordingly and allow for additional travel time.” said SANRAL’s Kwa-Zulu Natal Provincial Project Manager, Serisha Sukraj.
 
“We appeal to all road users to observe traffic signage, adhere to speed limits, and remain vigilant when approaching and driving through the construction zone. SANRAL apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for their cooperation as we work to preserve critical transport infrastructure” said Sukraj.
